England end World XI five-year winning streak in Soccer Aid 2024

England earned their first Soccer Aid win since 2018 as they beat the World XI 6-3 at Stamford Bridge.

Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2024 broadcast live and exclusively on ITV1 ITVX and STV this evening from Stamford.

England ended a six-year wait to win the charity Soccer Aid title as a combined team of former players and celebrities beat the World XI at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Chunkz and Lee Mack gave England the lead before Robbie Keane pulled one back for the World XI. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry levelled for the visitors but Robbie Fowler and Mark Wright put England 4-2 up.

Usain Bolt pulled another one back for the World XI, but Joe Cole scored a sixth for England in the second half to cap a famous win. The game raised millions for UNICEF, the world's leading children's organisation.

England and the World XI came together at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening as part of Soccer Aid for UNICEF, a charity match that has raised more than £60 million for the world's most vulnerable children.

The match was a sell-out, with over 40,000 fans in attendance. England were managed by Harry Redknapp, while the World XI were managed by Arsène Wenger.

England started the match brightly and took the lead after just five minutes when Chunkz fired home from close range. Lee Mack doubled England's lead just before half-time, slotting home after a through ball from David James.

The World XI came out fighting in the second half and pulled a goal back through Robbie Keane. Thierry Henry then levelled for the visitors, but England regained the lead when Robbie Fowler scored from the penalty spot.

Mark Wright then extended England's lead to 4-2, but Usain Bolt pulled another one back for the World XI. However, Joe Cole scored a sixth for England in the second half to cap a famous win.

The victory was England's first in Soccer Aid since 2018. The World XI had won the previous five matches, including on penalties in 2021.

The match was a great success, both on and off the pitch. The fans were treated to a thrilling match, and the money raised will help UNICEF to continue its vital work around the world.
