Hurricane Debby Brings Tropical Storm Conditions to the Gulf of Mexico

Minor Damage Reported in the Greater and Lesser Antilles

Hurricane Debby, the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, caused minor damage in the Greater and Lesser Antilles in August 2000. The storm brought tropical storm conditions over the Gulf of Mexico and strengthened rapidly into a hurricane on Sunday night with winds of 75 miles per hour.

Debby Expected to Make Landfall on Monday

Debby is expected to become a hurricane Sunday evening and will likely make landfall sometime between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday. The storm is currently located about 100 miles west of Tampa and moving toward the Gulf Coast.

Residents Urged to Prepare for Hurricane Conditions

Residents in the affected areas are urged to prepare for hurricane conditions. This includes securing loose objects, stocking up on food and water, and having an evacuation plan in place.
